January Paintout 2017 Alan's Gardens

Posted on February 7, 2017 at 11:22am 0 Comments

Quick report and a look from our first paint out of 2017. The location was perfect choice for a cold day. I settled in the biggest of five buildings, I call it the "banana hall" because of its tall banana trees. As usual, when painting in public we can expect  strangers to come and talk to us, so this time was no exception. People were friendly but not too intrusive.

Great times people! It was awesome to see familiar faces and meet new artist at our annual show.

We had tons of viewers come by on Saturday to check out the artwork displayed and to vote for the plein air challenge.

Here are some pictures from that day. Thanks to Ingrid who took them!

We had ten artist join in the challenge, in only a couple of hours everyone had their paintings finished and up on the easels ready for…

Adriatic Seacoast Part 2

Posted on August 19, 2012 at 10:23pm 0 Comments

What I love the most about the Adriatic seacoast is the scent. It feels like walking trough some aroma therapy spa. The air is filled with the scent of salty sea, dry pine needles, agave, palms, wild lavender, rosemary, and myriad of other herbs. The sea is crystal clear, blue, light turquoise, it literally begs you to jump in and cool…

Adriatic Seacoast Part 1

Posted on July 29, 2012 at 10:52pm 4 Comments

I just returned from visiting Adriatic seacoast in Croatia. If you haven't been and are planing to go to Europe this is the place to visit. The famous impressionist painter Edgar Payne once painted there, especially the brightly coloured sardine fishing boats.
I spent nine days on Island Vis. This island used to be a navy base and was restricted for tourists. Now it is becoming know for its quiet and…

Hi Dalibor, Thanks for getting in touch with us!  We had a great time at the Thornhill show and enjoyed meeting you and the other members.  Your painting has found a good home in our dining room - so our guests get its pleasure as well as us!  Very excited to see more of your work.  All the best, Paula & John

Thanks  Dalibor.

The summer is going great so far. Stratford and area is a terrific place to paint.

So much material. And a a great art town. The level of quality is very high generally across the board. In all media.

We are the highest point of land in Southern Ontario so we get a lot of xtreme weather patterns breaking overtop of us---cloud banks, rain, wind,  sunrises, sunsets etc.

Hey are you familiar with Marc Hanson's pastels?(And his oils!) Love his color chops.

I've never tried pastels- don't like the dusty dry feeling between my fingers and then theres all that  toxic spray fixative and framing under gla$$ thing...

Hey how did the Toronto Island PO go?
